LVP Flooring Installation in Meridian, Idaho

Meridian is dominated by production-built homes from the mid-1990s onward, which makes the flooring problem here unusually consistent — and unusually easy to get wrong. Open-concept plans run uninterrupted from the entry through the great room, kitchen and hallway, and a floating rigid plank floor installed across that whole span without a planned expansion break is the single most common defect we are called out to fix in this city.

Meridian housing stock

Late-1990s and 2000s subdivisions through central Meridian, and a heavy concentration of 2010s–2020s construction in Paramount, Bridgetower, Movado, Spurwing and the south Meridian corridor. Two-story plans with carpeted stairs and a tile entry are the norm.

Subfloor conditions we find in Meridian

Almost universally OSB over engineered I-joists. Generally flat within tolerance, but panel seams and glue ridges telegraph through thinner plank, and long floor trusses can show measurable deflection mid-span. Sand the seams, check deflection, and the rest of the job is straightforward.

Local considerations

The typical Meridian scope is removing builder carpet and the small tile entry apron, then running one continuous plank field. That means the tile has to come out cleanly, the height difference has to be reconciled, and the run length has to be checked against the manufacturer's maximum continuous dimension. Stairs are the other recurring item — most of these homes have 13 to 16 risers that the original builder carpeted, and converting them to plank treads is a distinct scope with its own cost.

Common Meridian projects

  • Builder-carpet removal and continuous main-floor plank
  • Tile entry demolition and height reconciliation
  • Carpeted stair conversion to LVP treads and risers
  • Expansion break planning in long open-concept runs
