Infill townhomes are typically wood-frame over slab or over garage, where thermal difference between conditioned and unconditioned space below matters for adhesive selection. Converted industrial and commercial suites are slab-on-grade, frequently with old adhesive residue or cutback that has to be mechanically removed and the slab tested per ASTM F2170 before glue-down.
Local considerations
Multi-level townhomes over garages need attention to sound transmission and to substrate temperature at install time — adhesives have minimum application temperatures that an unheated garage below can compromise in winter.
